SMS Billing or Click2SMS

« Back to Glossary Index

Сlick2sms offers (click-to-chat or click-to-text or SMS Billing) is the offer in which a user should send SMS to make a conversion. After that, he gets subscriptions to some info product or gets involved in the messaging. It stimulates the user to communicate as long as possible and send SMS.

These kinds of offers are a part of Mobile Content Offers or mVAS.

SMS Billing or Click2SMS flow in mobile affiliate marketing

SMS billing flow accepts all kinds of connections — whether the user is using WiFi or mobile data is fine. The user arrives at a landing page that requires him to place his mobile number.

There are two modes of SMS Billing as well, and these are:

  • Mobile Originated — MO Flow is used when mobile users enter their phone number on your website’s landing page and get sent over an SMS that includes information on what they are about to subscribe to. To confirm the subscription, the user must reply to that message (the reply is based on instructions, such as Yes, No, Confirm, Stop, etc.)
  • Mobile Terminated — MT flow is when customers enter their phone number, then receive an SMS message that contains a PIN code. Once the user has confirmed interest in your offer by entering that PIN code on the landing page, it’s counted as conversion!

No need to explain that if you are going to run Click2SMS flow, you need some mobile ads for a start. Let’s discuss this point!

Mobile traffic sources

Any marketer can place ads on their blog. Then they will be free. Also, ads can be purchased from many different sources.

Here is a list of sources for mobile traffic:

  • banners on a site (they should be adapted for mobile),
  • paid search,
  • advertising in all social networks (Facebook, Instagram, and others),
  • in-app advertising,
  • ad networks with traffic (for example, with pops, push notifications, native ads, and more).

Nowadays, it is especially noticeable how mobile devices dominate desktops when it comes to traffic from ad networks.

In fact, 90% of push notifications on the RichAds ad network come from mobile devices!

How to launch click2sms using push traffic?

To launch such campaigns with RichAds instead of URL paste in the address bar the phone number with the code in the following format:

Destination URL:sms:+442070000000

Click2sms offers and how to set them up

In this case, push notification is the only thing the user sees before sending SMS. It should clearly explain the content of the SMS for a successful subscription. Complicated two-step guides are a way to failure. One step is the maximum information the user can remember. A perfect message should be as simple, concise, and catchy as possible.

Headlines and descriptions play a very important role in click2call и click2sms offers without landing pages. They tell about the offer and stimulates to perform an action. Use a/b testing to identify which headline and description work better.

RichAds allows targeting certain mobile providers if it’s implied by the offer. Find “Advanced settings” section and mobile operators’ settings in it.
