iGaming

« Back to Glossary Index

The iGaming vertical is a term used in the online gaming industry to describe the activity of playing games for money or prizes. This can include casino games, poker, sports betting, and other games of chance or skill.

This vertical is popular for affiliates nowadays because it is a high-income sector that is growing rapidly. However, high payouts also mean strict requirements for approvals.

But if you know what you are doing and if you can find the right offers to promote, then there is a lot of money to be made in this vertical.

In this article, we will take a look at what the iGaming vertical is, why you should promote it, and the different ways to earn from it.

Definition of iGaming

What is iGaming? iGaming describes the act of gambling online, which can include anything from betting on sports games to playing casino games. iGaming has become increasingly popular in recent years, due in part to the convenience it offers.

With so many people now owning smartphones and laptops, it’s easy to access online gambling sites from anywhere. And with apps that allow you to play for real money, there’s no need to even leave your home.

There are many different types of iGaming, from online casinos to multiplayer games, and it is estimated that there are over two billion active iGamers around the world. Despite its popularity, iGaming remains a controversial activity, with some countries outlawing it altogether.

Why Promote iGaming Offers?

iGaming is increasing in popularity across the world due to factors such as technological progress, increased trust by gamblers to make payments online, and increasingly digital culture. After the United States Supreme Court ruled in 2018 that sports betting is legal, online gambling firms started expanding their sports betting sectors, thereby contributing to the market expansion of the iGaming industry.

The market is booming and is expected to grow even more in the years ahead. Since 2015, more than 30 new gambling markets opened up. VIXIO GamblingCompliance estimates iGaming revenues to go over $18 billion by 2025 in the US market alone!

With this much potential for growth, it’s no wonder that many affiliate marketers are looking to get into the iGaming vertical. The high payouts and manageable approval process make it a tempting market to enter.

Come 2023, the worldwide online gambling industry is expected to be worth more than 92.9 billion dollars in the United States. The current size of the market is approximately 59 billion dollars, implying that it will double over the next decade or two.

Conversion Flows for the iGaming Vertical

When promoting an offer in the iGaming vertical, it is important to keep in mind the conversion flows (also known as payout models) that are common in this industry.

As an affiliate, you will earn a commission for every player that you refer to an iGaming site, but the payment you receive depends on the player’s involvement in the game.

There is only a handful of conversion flows for iGaming verticals at present, and these are:

  • CPL
In a CPL campaign, the affiliate is paid for every lead they send to the advertiser. This could be a player who registers for an account or downloads the casino software, and signs in for the first time.
  • CPA on an FTD basis
Cost per Action on the basis of First-Time Deposits is the most common payout model. You can either get a percentage of the player’s deposit or a fixed amount as indicated by the advertiser or affiliate network.
  • Revenue Share
The revenue sharing payout model is usually reserved for affiliates who have proven their traffic quality. In this model, affiliates get paid a portion of their referral’s losses for the month.

While these are the main ones, some networks also offer the Hybrid payment model. This is where the affiliate gets paid both for the referral’s first-time deposit and for the referral’s losses in the game for the previous month.

The iGaming vertical is an exciting and rapidly-growing niche for affiliate marketers. The market has been estimated to grow by more than 30% in the years ahead, so now’s a great time to get involved!
